Prior to any admission the Management Team, in conjunction with appropriate healthcare professionals, external agencies, relatives, carers and the service user, will discuss suitability of the person referred to the service.

It is vital to us that anyone who wishes to come through our service is keen to improve their current situation and accept support and help towards independency.

We recognise that everyone is individual and it may not always be a simple and straight forward passage through transition. The initial time taken for some individuals to reach emotional stability can vary depending on past events and traumas. This needs to be taken into account when planning length of stay and current needs (approximate length of stay could be anywhere between one and two years).

Our admissions and placement policy includes:

  •  First six weeks assessing skills and capabilities and identifying risks and areas of support.
  •  Progress and development reports are completed at three monthly intervals.
  •  Registration to bid for properties with the local council and housing associations.
  •  Referrals to alternative supported living providers and independent housing associations.

Last stages of placement will be determined through our progress reports to identify appropriate future housing for the individual.
